
Leeds Children’s Hospital is holding two Young People’s Careers Day in 2026 for young people aged 15-18 interested in a career in paediatric healthcare.
These events are the perfect opportunity for young people who are interested in a career in healthcare and in particular working with children but might not know which avenue to take. The event will provide a good introduction to life in the hospital, what different healthcare professionals do, what qualifications are needed and top tips for kick-starting a career in children’s healthcare.
What to expect
On the day you’ll meet expert staff from across the hospital including: Nurses, Doctors, Advanced Care Practitioners, Play Specialists, Physiotherapists, Operation Department Technicians, Speech and Language Specialists, Radiographers, Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Professionals.

Events include a range of short presentations from our specialists showcasing each of the different roles. There will be practical skills session where attendees can try out some skills such as basic life support, taking observations and other clinical skills. In the afternoon attendees will go on a tour of Leeds Children’s Hospital to see how one of the UK’s largest and most specialised children’s hospitals runs.
Young People’s Careers Days will take place on 28 May and 23 July 2026, 8.30am-3.30pm.
