Haemodialysis for me was the best decision I ever made. At first I was a bit apprehensive but with time and support from the home haemo team and the R&S ward at Seacroft I have found my rhythm with my treatment. All the staff are amazingly special and are dedicated to help anyone with support and guidance. With home haemo I can pick my days & time to work with my treatment plan. The flexibility means I don’t miss out on those special moments with my family and means I can continue to create precious memories with my grandchildren from the comfort of my own home. I would recommend home haemodialysis to anyone.

Moving from in clinic treatment to Home Heamo was the best move I could make. It has given me the freedom and control over something that had taken all control from me. Home Heamo enabled me to go on holiday to Ireland, I took the machine with me so again I wasn’t tied down to clinic times eating away at my holiday. The Support from the Home Heamo team is 2nd to none and you are never alone in your journey, there is always someone on the end of the phone to talk to, get advice from, rant to! For anyone considering Home Heamo, I would highly recommend it. It has certainly given me back more control of my life.

“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is the old saying, but Leeds Home Dialysis can, in fact they take the Bonio.
We are couple who are no longer in the first flush of life, in fact we are at the other end of the spectrum, towards, even the final flush!I am 79 years of age & my wife is a little older & in December of last year I was referred to commence dialysis, twice a week for 4 hour sessions, initially at Pontefract Hospital but the referred on to Ward 48 at St James in Leeds.
The care that I received at these centres was exemplary but the travelling of around an hour in each direction was extremely wearing particularly on Jan as I was not driving due to a recent leg amputation so we decided to enquire regarding Home Dialysis.
Fairly quickly we had a visit from staff at the Seacroft Unit to assess our suitability for home dialysis and somewhat surprisingly we were deemed suitable and a visit planned to visit our home to assess the possibility of a suitable space and following this we transferred our dialysis to the training centre at Seacroft.
We then commenced the training with tremendous help & support from all the staff who were patient, helpful friendly & informative which gave us a confidence that we would be able to cope with what felt like a very daunting prospect
Fairly soon we were deemed to be competent enough to be set free at home where the support continued for several weeks with staff at home with us in support. Then came the time when we were on our own but the support continued with response available at the end of the phone.
The installation of the dialysis machine & associated plumbing & fittings was again most efficient as is the supply chain for all the required equipment.
We are now able to carry out my dialysis in a far more convenient fashion but we cannot speak highly enough of the nurses & technicians who have enabled us to make this change.

Home Haemo has given me the flexibility to work around my treatment instead of being forced to stick to set times, this allows more freedom and stops dialysis being a burden.
