Bladder and Renal Cancer Team

Dedicated uro-oncology, bladder cancer, and renal/metastatic clinical nurse specialists coordinate patient pathways from diagnosis through treatment.

Remote Cancer Monitoring and Support

The Uro-Oncology team provide emotional support to patients and relatives diagnosed with a range of urological cancers. The team can sign post to other useful services, such as financial support, to give further help to their patients. The CNS team also make sure that the recommended tests are carried out to monitor for any signs of cancer progression or reoccurrence and refer to the appropriate specialists when further treatment is required.

Bladder Cancer Instillations

In this clinic patients are given either chemotherapy or immunotherapy into the bladder to help treat bladder cancer, depending on the grade and severity. The nurses also make sure that the patients have the appropriate monitoring and cystoscopies to keep an eye on possible cancer recurrences.

Urostomy Care

Some patients need to have their bladder removed due to advanced cancer or severe untreatable bladder pain. Patients are seen pre-operatively and the urostomy site is located. The CNS’s also see the patients and relatives post-operatively and provide teaching and support to help patients become independent with the care of the urostomy using a wide range of appliances and other equipment.
